How does rose flower wax differ from rose essential oil?

Rose flower wax and rose essential oil are different fractions of the same flower: the wax is the solid, waxy fraction obtained by solvent extraction, while the essential oil is the volatile aromatic liquid obtained by steam distillation.

For formulators: the wax carries the same rose character plus wax esters that add body, hold and skin feel — ideal for balms, solid perfumes and creams. The oil is used for concentrated scent where a liquid is required. Many premium formulas use both, with the wax providing fixative depth and the oil providing top-to-heart freshness.
