Lemongrass is a fast-growing tropical grass that can be cut 3-4 times per year, so the oil is available year-round rather than in a single narrow season. However, quality varies by cut: the best citral levels typically come from mature leaf cuts, while very young grass accumulates myrcene (which must stay below 20%). Supply dips can occur during the rainy season or after weather extremes.
