How is this lemongrass oil used in cosmetics and personal care?

In cosmetics lemongrass oil brings a fresh, clean, citrus-herbaceous note to body care and cleansing products. Typical uses: bar and liquid soap (0.5-1%), body wash and shampoo (0.3-1%), deodorant and foot-care products (0.1-0.5%), lotions (0.1-0.5%), and natural room/body sprays. It is also a favourite in insect-repellent body care.

  • pH and oxidation matter: citral is sensitive to strong alkali (soap saponification) and long exposure to light — dose at the cool-down stage and use UV-protected packaging
  • Always dilute; never use neat on skin
